The Nexcare Acne Care Patch is the first of many Asian products I will be reviewing. I have gone through many many packages of these and I absolutely love them.

The Mask of Magnaminty is a face and body mask that comes in two sizes - $12.95 for 4.4 oz or $24.95 for 11.1 oz. Unlike the Fresh face masks, Catastrophe Cosmetic and Cosmetic Warrior, this mask is meant for weekly use as a deep cleanser and exfoliator. It is sold in bigger quantities since it can be used for an extended period of time versus the two-week refrigerator life of the Fresh face masks.

I purchased the Catastrophe Cosmetic face mask through the recommendation of a very sweet, very helpful, and very bubbly salesperson after she had regretfully informed me that my usual go-to mask (Cosmetic Warrior) had been sold out. These masks arrive once a week so they are prone to sell out. Just ask your local LUSH store when their shipment typically arrives to ensure you get your products.

Catastrophe Cosmetic aims to soothe irritated skin and prevent blemishes by providing rich nutrients and deep cleansing. The main ingredients in this mask include fresh blueberries, calamine powder, chamomile and orange oils.

You can often smell a LUSH store before it comes into view. The scent is strong and sometimes overwhelming. And should you be tempted to browse around the store or even wash your hands in a sample pot, you will absolutely leave smelling LUSH'd. For years I had seen and heard about the brand, but it wasn't until last year that I finally invested in my first face mask. Since then I've gone through about 8 pots, and yes, I've even been back to claim my free pot. (Buy 5, bring them back clean, get 1 free).

LUSH features fresh handmade cosmetics made with fresh ingredients and essential oils. They highly emphasize their strong ethical stance for buying ingredients and against animal testing. Aside from masks, LUSH has a wide array of products for your hair, face and body including shampoos, bath bombs, make-up, cleansers and perfumes.

Today, I will be reviewing three of their face masks including Cosmetic Warrior, Catastrophe Cosmetic, and the Mask of Magnaminty.

In my previous post, I had written about the Ole Henriksen Grease Relief Face Tonic. Since then, I've switched back to the Murad Acne Clarifying Toner which I have once used before. 

Murad is an American brand created by board certified dermatologist and trained pharmacist, Dr. Howard Murad. He specializes in topical and internal skincare. His skincare lines target a variety of skin issues including acne, pores, anti-aging, dry skin, renewal and resurgence.

What does a toner do?

A toner can help aid a variety of things. It can help remove excess oils and clear pores that your initial wash missed. It can also help to prep your skin to better absorb your moisturizer or choice of products.

Is a toner necessary/essential?

Simply put - a toner is not always a necessary step in your skincare routine. For some, it is an excessive and expensive step that can be overlooked. However, for those with dry or oily skin, a good toner can effectively provide the moisture or minimize the oil leaving you with softer, smoother skin. I highly recommend water-based toners to avoid the harshness of alcohol-based toners that can strip your skin of essential oils.
