LUSH Fresh Face Mask - Cosmetic Warrior
Overall rating: 4/5 MYNT leaves
You can often smell a LUSH store before it comes into view. The scent is strong and sometimes overwhelming. And should you be tempted to browse around the store or even wash your hands in a sample pot, you will absolutely leave smelling LUSH'd. For years I had seen and heard about the brand, but it wasn't until last year that I finally invested in my first face mask. Since then I've gone through about 8 pots, and yes, I've even been back to claim my free pot. (Buy 5, bring them back clean, get 1 free).
LUSH features fresh handmade cosmetics made with fresh ingredients and essential oils. They highly emphasize their strong ethical stance for buying ingredients and against animal testing. Aside from masks, LUSH has a wide array of products for your hair, face and body including shampoos, bath bombs, make-up, cleansers and perfumes.
Today, I will be reviewing three of their face masks including Cosmetic Warrior, Catastrophe Cosmetic, and the Mask of Magnaminty.
My absolute favorite mask is the Cosmetic Warrior. With ingredients such as garlic, tea tree oil, green grapes and honey - this mask is meant for oily and acne-prone skin. The biggest deterrent is usually the smell because let's face it - mashed garlic is not the most attractive of scents. However, after the first two pots, I found the smell bearable and nearly welcomed.
As with their Fresh Face masks, each pot is recommended for two weeks of use. Unlike the picture, I've yet to purchase a pot filled to the brim. Most of the time the pots are only approximately 75% full. While I have at times felt slighted (each pot retails at $6.95 regardless of weight), it is always enough to last me a little over two weeks. The key to using this mask is to wash it off without letting it harden and dry. Apply on a clean face, wait 5-10 minutes, and wash off immediately for best results.
My skin feels great after using this mask. My skin is less oily, my existing breakouts feel more calm and what I enjoy most is the feeling of clean skin without any product residue.
