Murad Acne Clarifying Toner Review

Murad Acne Clarifying Toner

Overall rating: 4/5 MYNT leaves

In my previous post, I had written about the Ole Henriksen Grease Relief Face Tonic. Since then, I've switched back to the Murad Acne Clarifying Toner which I have once used before.

Murad is an American brand created by board certified dermatologist and trained pharmacist, Dr. Howard Murad. He specializes in topical and internal skincare. His skincare lines target a variety of skin issues including acne, pores, anti-aging, dry skin, renewal and resurgence.

I have used a few products from their acne line including the Acne Spot Treatment and the Post-Acne Spot Lightening Gel. Although those products in particular weren't as effective as I had hoped for, I do like the Murad Acne Clarifying Toner. Western skincare tends to be more harsh on the skin so if your skin is extremely dry to begin with or is extremely sensitive, I would not recommend this toner for you. As this toner is alcohol-based, you may experience irritation including stinging and burning.

This toner features the main ingredients of water, witch hazel and various herbal extracts meant to eliminate excess oils, tighten pores, cool, and refresh skin. Algae extract aims to regulate excess sebum production. Like most alcohol-based toners, there is a heavy scent of alcohol and herbs. For me, it is bearable. Application with a cotton pad leaves a cool and tingly sensation across your face. The cotton pad also does a good job at removing whatever dirt and make-up you might have missed in your initial wash. Because this toner is drying, it is absolutely essential to follow up with a good moisturizer.

Overall, this toner does a great job at controlling my oil production. It leaves my skin dewy, not greasy. As I'm indoors for a majority of my day, I blot once to none in a day. I took away one star as it doesn't seem to target existing acne but rather dry it out slowly. However, I have noticed a decrease in break-outs and that alone is enough for me to continue using this product.
