LUSH Fresh Face Mask Catastrophe Cosmetic Review

LUSH Fresh Face Mask - Catastrophe Cosmetic

Overall rating: 3/5 MYNT leaves

I purchased the Catastrophe Cosmetic face mask through the recommendation of a very sweet, very helpful, and very bubbly salesperson after she had regretfully informed me that my usual go-to mask (Cosmetic Warrior) had been sold out. These masks arrive once a week so they are prone to sell out. Just ask your local LUSH store when their shipment typically arrives to ensure you get your products.

Catastrophe Cosmetic aims to soothe irritated skin and prevent blemishes by providing rich nutrients and deep cleansing. The main ingredients in this mask include fresh blueberries, calamine powder, chamomile and orange oils.

Perhaps I have had such great success with the Cosmetic Warrior, or that I have grown so accustomed to the earthy garlic smell, that the sweet blueberry scent of Catastrophe Cosmetic threw me off. As with all of the pots I have purchased before, the pot was about 75% full to begin with. There is a similar chunky texture, though my batch was thick. I really had to work my fingers to smear the mixture onto my face. The scent was sweet and a little overwhelming.

What I didn't like about this mask was the powdery residue that was left on my face after washing, due to the calamine powder. I always felt the need to wash my face again with cleanser just to keep my pores clear, though the direct use of this mask did not lead to breakouts. Overall, I found that I couldn't bring myself to use the entire pot. It was a decent product, though I personally would not repurchase. I will be staying loyal to my Cosmetic Warrior in the meantime.
